Jack McConnell goes at last

Jack should have gone before this; but the delay indicated the inability of Scottish Labour to admit confess defeat.

He was not a charismatic First Minister, but he was a least well to the left of Tony Blair: not too difficult, I suppose!

I do not think that Scottish Labour will greatly benefit; they are far to close to the Westminster Government; and have failed to benefit from the Brown Bounce.

Wendy Alexander refused to admit her being a candidate for the leadership because it was Jack McConnell's day. Four hours later she announced her candidateship: four hours is a long time in Scottish Labour politics! How crass!

Scottish Labour may have a role in an independent Scotland; at present, they deserve a very long time in the wilderness!
