Time for Silence?

Good Friday is a strange day. I am not certain if the adjective "good" is used in languages other than English; but it encapsulates a genuine insight of the Western Church: the suffering of Christ is at the heart of Christianity.

But it is a day for reflection and not for theological endeavours. Holy Saturday prolongs the mood; it is the only day during which the Church does not celebrate the Eucharist.

Silence is salutary; waiting is salutary. "Salutary" means "health-giving". What a paradox!

But further worda would render false what has been said already: we must (impossible task) try to enpathize with dereliction.

Weather forecasting?

According to BBC weather at the BBC site it is raining outside (0900); yet the sun is shining, and there is not a cloud in the sky.

BBC 24 gives forecasts every 30 minutes; they are frequently wrong regarding current weather.

Could the reason be that in spite of appearances they are not live? If so, this is not made clear.

Re the report from my PC I suppose that they do not update sufficiently often: shameful!

Sometimes I wonder if we are making any progress. During the Second World War forecasting was incredibly accurate in spite of primitive instruments.

For once I do not directly blame the Government, but the quality of BBC output is another matter!
